It was a lovely evening at Firtstsite filled with fashion contributions from local students and designers, and dance performances from myself and a talented group of girls from the Sixth Form College; all in aid of The Russ Foundation. The fashion collections were great - my favourite being local designer Hasseena Mungroo's beautifully elegant womenswear pieces. I particularly liked the little black number, which boasted a gorgeous woven section at the top. My scarves featured with the menswear collection - which worked a treat! It was great to see the designs in a different context - and shows that they can work for men as well as women! Having performed my solo piece (Liquid Dance), I sat comfortably to enjoy the Sixth Form College girls perform Jai Ho. I taught them the routine over merely 2 hour-long sessions. They rehearsed hard and pulled off an outstanding performance on the night. It was fantastic! Needless to say I am very proud of them. The formations worked well, and although it is a shame that nobody could see the routing directly from the front, everybody loved the dance. Watch the video of the girls Bollywood-ing it up!

The Only Way Is Ethics festival is now on the The Mercury Theatre! If you get a chance, pop along...you might see somebody you recognise on the screens around the foyer... :D
I have yet to see it myself, but I'm very excited about going in a couple of weeks to see the digital installation and The Good Person of Sichuan. See if you can beat me to it...! http://www.mercurytheatre.co.uk/made-in-colchester/the-only-way-is-ethics/digital-installations/ |
