DESIGN FOR LIVING
Artists Clare Birks and Jaymini Bedia; both stimulated by Tendrings' distinctive sense of place, the wide open skies, its beautiful beaches, the flotsam and jetsam and its relationship with the sea collaborated with local residents and students in exploring their community and environment.
The local residents were encouraged to look afresh at their immediate environment and interpret their vision of and for their community, through various mediums. The community's work was shared through an exhibition at the Jaywick Martello Tower, empowering residents to become active participants in their community. In response to the communities' work the artists created an installation and performance piece offering an exciting new perspective on the regeneration debate.
